The third day of the DOTA 2 WePlay AniMajor Playoffs showcased the eight remaining teams who gave their hearts out on their matches. But in the end, only six teams inched closer to the final, and two teams have been eliminated from the competition.
Vici Gaming vs Team Spirit
The first match of the day saw Vici Gaming from China vs Team Spirit from CIS in for the second round of the lower bracket, where the former bested the latter in two games.
Game 1 lasted for 45 minutes, while game 2 was only 27 minutes, both of which favored the side of the Chinese team. They will move on to the lower bracket semi-finals, while Team Spirit has been knocked out from the competition.
Evil Geniuses vs TNC Predator
NA's Evil Geniuses went head-to-head with SEA's TNC Predator in a thrilling three-game series for the lower bracket round 2. But it was the Americans who had the last laugh, eventually sending home the team from the Philippines.
It was undeniable that game 1 can be considered if not the most, but one of the most one-sided games in the whole AniMajor. Evil Geniuses outlasted TNC after a killing score of 36-3.
However, the Filipino pride bounced back in game 2, yet it was still a close fight. The series went on to a deciding game 3, but the team from NA proved to be a force to be reckoned with, and closed out the series 2-1, eventually eliminating TNC in the process.
PSG.LGD vs Team Nigma
For the first match of the upper bracket semi-finals, another three-game classic happened between PSG.LGD from China and Team Nigma from EU, with the Chinese team emerging victorious in the end, making them the first team to secure a slot in the upper bracket finals.
PSG.LGD won game 1 while Team Nigma notched the win in game 2. Game 3 saw numerous exchanges of kills, but PSG.LGD managed to come out as the winner of the series, closing it out 2-1. This sent Team Nigma down the lower bracket.
T1 vs Quincy Crew
The final match of day 3 was the other upper-bracket semi-final bout between T1 from SA against Quincy Crew from NA. And just like the last two matches, the series was forced to end to a third game where T1 was able to defeat Quincy Crew, securing their match with PSG.LGD in the upper bracket finals.
Games 1 and 2 saw the potential of both teams to outlast each other, and everything went down the wire in game 3. Quincy Crew became unstoppable in the early game thanks to their Broodmother pick. But the defense of T1 became their biggest strength in the late game, eventually giving them the series win. Quincy Crew will go down to the lower bracket.
DOTA 2 AniMajor Playoffs Day 3 Aftermath
PSG.LGD will face T1 in the upper bracket final. On the other hand, it will be Quincy Crew vs Vici Gaming and Team Nigma vs Evil Geniuses in the lower bracket semi-finals.
