Diablo 3 narrates the story of the Nephalem, a warrior on an endless crusade against the forces of Hell that will take them even to the High Heavens, to prevent the End of Days. While your demonic enemies come in different shapes and forms, some of them are significantly stronger, demanding a harder effort from you to defeat them in battle. Today we will talk about the third boss fight in Act 4, Izual the Betrayer.
Who is Izual in Diablo 3?
Izual, an angel from the High Heavens, was one of the most trusted lieutenants and closest friends of Tyrael, until he got corrupted and later imprisoned in the Eternal Conflict. After becoming a shadow of his former self and giving up some of the deepest secrets of the High Heavens, Izual ended up killed and then reborn as a demon, now serving the Burning Hell, leaving behind any trace of the sacred warrior he once was.
Where Is Izual In Diablo 3
Izual shows up in The Great Span area as a boss battle, during the quest "Prime Evil" in Act IV. The fight will begin right after the player enters the circular arena with the hole in the middle, shortly before you arrive at the Crystal Arch.

How Do You Kill Izual in Diablo 3?
Once the fight starts, Izual will use the following moves in battle:
- Basic attack: Izual attacks you with a melee mace attack.
- Slam: Izual attacks you with a stronger, yet slower melee mace attack.
- Frozen Storm: Izual summons 5-10 mini-crystals that will freeze everything in an area, before exploding.
- Frozen Nova: Izual freezes everyone across the arena, and this attack is only avoidable by using certain evasive skills. The effect ends when Izual hits you.
Izual can be really annoying if you don't have any available tool to avoid his freezing abilities, so don't get greedy and save your evading skills up until the last moment, only when strictly necessary. While his attacks aren't incredibly strong, being frozen can leave you in a very vulnerable spot, and you don't want that to happen more than once or twice, so pay attention to the fight and you will be fine.
Diablo 3 Izual - Drops
Izual has a chance to drop the Plan: Staff of Herding, a required ingredient to craft the Staff of Herding, which is used to gain access to Whimsyshire.
