Diablo 2 Resurrected is finally here, and with it, a myriad of quests, enemies, and challenges for you to discover (or re-discover!). Today we will take you through the fourth Story Quest of Act I, The Forgotten Tower, a quest that involves descending through various underground levels and killing an enemy monster called The Countess.

Quest Name: The Forgotten Tower
Area Level: 7 (Normal), 38-42 (Nightmare), 75-79 (Hell)
Unlocked By: Reading the Moldy Tome, found in the Stony Field, or finding the Forgotten Tower ruins in the Black Marsh.
This Quest is an optional one, it can be triggered by either reading the Moldy Tome in the Stony Field or finding the Forgotten Tower ruins, located randomly in the Black Marsh area. The Moldy Tome recounts a story of an evil Countess, who was buried alive under her castle in which many cruel things took place, with a sole ruined tower still standing as a reminder.
Once you descend into this dungeon, you must traverse through five labyrinthic levels of narrow corridors with several enemy monster groups scattered across them. It’s one of the hardest areas in Act I, with numerous monster groups running across small rooms, making it harder to escape from them. The levels are very small, and on the fifth and lowest level, there are two rooms with dozens of stacks of gold, accompanied by some chests.
The end of the fifth level has a room with a glowing golden chest guarded by The Countess, a melee-fighting Corrupt Rogue Boss enemy. As a reward for slaying her, the tower releases dozens of stacks of gold and numerous items from the magical chest.

- The Countess has a high chance of dropping Runes, items that become especially important in later stages of the game.
