However, it might be you know which class you want to pick and now you need a little bit more help working out the best build to assemble.

All Diablo 2 Resurrected Paladin Builds

A Paladin’s faith is his weapon and his shield. Exuding powerful auras, the Paladin combines martial prowess with protective enchantments to redeem the land and send demons back to the abyss.

At launch, there's not a whole heap of options when it comes to Paladin Builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected. Here are your potential options:

  • Hammerdin Paladin
  • Smite Paladin
  • Zeal Paladin
  • Dream Paladin
  • Fist of the Heavens Paladin

Here's a little taster of what the Paladin Class has in store for you:

Is The Paladin Good In Diablo 2 Resurrected?

Obviously, this is a very subjective question to start with and we'll try to give you as honest an answer as possible. But equally, it's very open to interpretation, especially when there are so many different factors to consider with every class and build.

For instance, some builds are fantastic at farming specific areas of the game or certain Uber Bosses who are useful for farming high-level loot. Another build might be tailored specifically for Solo Speedruns, when you're simply trying to complete Act 1 to Act 5 in as fast a time as possible on your own. Likewise, you might want a class or build that is geared towards farming Hell Andariel and Mephisto when attempting that late-game grind.

There's a wide variety of factors to consider.

Now, based on all the testing done by experts at Maxroll.GG, and when looking at the broadest spectrum of factors, there are generally speaking two decent S-Tier builds for the Paladin. These are the Hammerdin Paladin and Smite Paladin builds.

There are also two further A-Tier options in the Zeal Paladin and Dream Paladin builds, which are equally worthy options.

So yes, the Paladin is most definitely a good class option for Diablo 2 Resurrected at launch. Just as long as you avoid the F-Tier flop that is the Fist of the Heavens Paladin Build.

What Is The Best Paladin Build in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

Based on everything we've seen, the best Paladin build for Diablo 2 Resurrected appears to be a toss-up between the Hammerdin Paladin or Smite Paladin, which are both S-Tier.

Hammerdin Paladin looks to be the build that is slightly more favourable though, as it's better suited for High mob density farming as well as farming gear from Hell Andariel and Mephisto. That said, anyone interested in farming Uber Bosses, might be better suited to the Smite Paladin.

With Hammerdin Paladin you'll be able to cause massive damage to large groups of enemies, thanks in no small part Blessed Hammer ability, which arguably has one of the highest damage outputs in the game. This build is a bit of a tank and given the lack of Magic Immune monsters in the game a good Hammerdin Paladin can be very handy for end-game scenarios when the difficulty starts to ramp up.

Keep reading, we'll explain everything you need to set up this particular build, including your gear, active skills, passive skills and more.

Hammerdin Paladin Build Stat Points Setup

Strength - Hammerdin Paladins only need to worry about Strength in as far as they need to meet certain gear requirements. Our build suggests opting for a Herald of Zakarum Zakarum Shield, and a Paladin will require 142 Strength to use this item. Beyond this though, you don't really need to waste any more stats on strength.

Dexterity - The Hammerdin Paladins dexterity level will have a big say in attack rating and block chance. Attack rating isn't really important here, but you want to reach 75% block value for this build. Also note that the Paladin Skill Holy Shield will also have a positive impact in increasing your Block Chance.

Vitality - This is what decides your Hammerdin Paladin's health, stamina and stamina recovery. You'll likely spend most of your stat points here, but do so after you've levelled up your strength and dexterity to the required levels mentioned previously.

Energy - Don't put points into Energy, it'll be a waste.

Hammerdin Paladin Build Best Gear

The below is the best possible gear worth targetting for the Hammerdin Paladin Build.

  • Head - Harlequin Crest Shako
  • Amulet - Mara's Kaleidoscope
  • Torso - Archon Plate
  • Gloves - Magefist Light Gauntlets
  • Feet - War Traveler Battle Boots
  • Belt - Arachnid Mesh Spiderweb Sash
  • Left Hand - Heart of the Oak Flail
  • Right Hand - Herald of Zakarum Zakarum Shield
  • Left Ring - Fortuitous Ring of Fortune
  • Right Ring - Fortuitous Ring of Fortune

The Best Skills For Hammerdin Paladin Build

  • Blessed Hammer
  • Vigor
  • Blessed Aim
  • Concentration
  • Holy Shield

These are the main skills you need to worry about and where possible max out as they will form the backbone of your Hammerdin Paladin build. Especially Blessed Hammer, you want to max out that skill first since this is where you'll be doing most of your attack damage.

The Best Secondary Skills For Hammerdin Paladin Build

It's also worth potentially put 1 point into the following skills as they'll also prove useful:

  • Holy Bolt
  • Charge
  • Smite
  • Cleansing
  • Redemption
  • Salvation
  • Fanaticism

The Best Mercenary For Hammerdin Paladin Build

We would pick the Hell Act 2 Defense Mercenary with Defiance Aura as it will add an extra defensive aura to your Paladin build. Combine this with the Insight Giant Thresher (weapon), Fortitude Runeword (body armor), and Andariel's Visage (Helmet) for the most optimum build.
