Bungie confirmed a new “secret” IP with close ties to variant, but don’t expect much news anytime soon.
The new Bungie IP won’t be ready until at least 2025.
The news comes from a recent interview Bungie design director Jacob Benton gave with 4Gamer, courtesy of @DestinyNewsCom, where he also confirmed Destiny 2’s story will continue beyond Lightfall and that Destiny 3 is still a ways away.
Lightfall is the last expansion in the trilogy that began with Beyond Light and will continue with The Witch Queen.
However Benton said they found they needed more room to tell the story than they could get by sticking with the trilogy format.

Bungie Developing New Destiny-Adjacent IP
With that fourth Destiny 2 expansion set to release sometime in 2024 or later, it’s likely the post-Lightfall expansion will tie in with whatever Bungie’s new IP is.
We know this isn’t an April Fools’ joke too.
Bungie has been hiring developers and artists for a new IP for a while now, and it’ll likely look quite different from mainline Destiny.
One of the artist position listings says the candidate will “define the look of a new Bungie IP.”
Beyond a new Bungie IP, the studio has other Destiny-related projects in the works.
Benton said they’re working on “providing content in media other than games” and will share more information in the future.
