Destiny 2 Heir Apparent Catalyst Guide: How To Unlock Guardian Games Weapon's Catalyst

Destiny 2's Guardian Games kicks off this week, and that means there's pride at stake as Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks compete for the honour of being the best class - at least for a year.

One of the biggest draws of last year's event was the Heir Apparent, an exotic Machine Gun that marked our first introduction to Empress Caiatl - who we became much more familiar with in Season of the Chosen.

New this year, though, is the weapon's catalyst. Here's everything we know about it.

Destiny 2 Heir Apparent Catalyst Guide

What Does It Do?

The Heir Apparent gives Guardians an arc-shield when wielded at full health, and the Catalyst ties into that.

With the Catalyst's perk, 'Legion's Bulwark', the Arc Shield is more durable. When it's broken, though, it'll partially reload the magazine.

How To Get The Heir Apparent Catalyst

According to early leaks, it appears that the Catalyst, like the base weapon, will only be available through the Guardian Games event.

1) Earn Points By Obtaining Medals

Earn yourself 50 medals, and you're on the right track.

2) Complete 3 Contender Cards

Contender Cards are Guardian Games' new challenges, and you can only hold one at a time.

Grab one, finish it, and repeat.

3) Defeat Combatants With Machine Guns in the Daily Focus Playlist To Collect Competitive Spirit

Grab your favourite Machine Gun, and go hunting. Precision kills will give you a boost, too.

You'll need ninety 'Competitive Spirit' drops.
