Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer – How to get Cryostesia 77k

There's only one way to unlock the exotic Cryosthesia 77k in Destiny 2 and that's via the game's new season pass for 'Season of the Splicer'.

Even then there are two very different ways to gain the new exotic.

If you’ve purchased the season, then you can get it right away as a gift at rank 1.

Alternatively, if you have opted to not buy the new premium pass for the season, then you can still earn the exotic through the free season pass, but you'll need to reach a higher rank – this time around, it's rank 35.

Destiny 2 Cryosthesia 77k Stats

The Cryosthesia offers solid range and stability for a sidearm.

As for its perks, it has the following:

  • Polygonal Rifling - Increases stability
  • Particle Repeater - Increases stability
  • Liquid Cooling - Final blows with this weapon enable a Charged Shot for a short duration. Targets hit by this shot are instantly frozen at the cost of the weapon’s entire magazine.
  • Polymer Grip - Increases Handling Speed

As for its exotic perk, that’s called LN2 Burst:

“Variable Trigger: Press and release to fire individual shots. Hold to fire a Charged Shot when Liquid Cooling is active”

It appears at around the 1:33 mark below:

It's worth remembering as well that you need not worry about missing out should you go the free route.

That's because a new Exotic kiosk in the Tower can offer older exotics, including those tied to the season pass – you'll just have to earn them with materials.

How to get Destiny 2 Cryosthesia 77k catalyst

Just like most exotics in Destiny 2, the Cryosthesia 77k has it's very own catalyst as well. Earning this catalyst isn't that difficult, if you're okay with sweating it out in the Crucible.

If you're like me and you don't like the Crucible at all, this may seem like a task. To get the quest associated with the catalyst, all you need to do is head over to Banshee-44 once you've unlocked the weapon. He'll give you the quest.

The Cryosthesia 77k catalyst quest is a two-fold quest. The first part of the quest is comparatively easier that the second part. In order to complete the first step of the quest you need to do the following:

  • Land 75 precision blows
  • Defeat 50 guardians
  • Defeat combatants

You can use any weapon you want to for this bit. For the next bit, you need to use the Cryosthesia 77k to complete the missions. Here's what you need to do:

  • Generate calibration data
  • Defeat 50 guardians
  • Defeat combatants

And that's it..well no that's not it actually. You still need to kill 700 enemies in order to use the catalyst. You could easily head over to the Cosmodrome to complete this bit. Once you've done that though, you've got yourself a brand new, catalyst enabled Cryosthesia 77k!
