The Microsoft Surface Pro has been around for over 8 years now, but when will the Surface Pro 8 release?

So, if you want the latest model of a device that can do everything, here's when it may launch.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Release Date

As 2021 continues on, it's looking likely that the Surface Pro 8 will release in late-2021, possibly around October or November. This date would coincide with the launch of Windows 11, too.

Microsoft has announced it will host a virtual Surface event on September 22, which will likely reveal the Surface Pro 8 - which may be the product featured in the below tweet.

Indeed, given Microsoft usually hosts its surface events in October, this September announcement suggests the Surface Pro 8 could launch slightly earlier than previous Surface products.

Previously, Windows Central suggested the Surface Pro 8 could launch in the first half of 2021.

In January 2021, a public FCC filing for the Surface Pro 8 suggested an announcement was imminent. As of August 2021, no announcement has been made.

The Surface Pro 8 will not be the only Surface product to launch in 2021, with the leaked Surface Duo 2 slated for a release alongside the Windows 11 Operating System.

Of course, any alleged Surface Pro 8 release date may be changed due to supply chain issues and component shortages that have been prevalent across the whole sector.

Indeed, as WindowsCentral reports, chip shortages may lead Microsoft to lower its sales expectations for the Surface Pro if the company cannot acquire the necessary components for further mass production.

If Microsoft is still struggling here, there is a chance the release date may be pushed back to as far as 2022.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Pre-Order Date

If Microsoft reveals the Surface Pro 8 at the September 22 event, it is likely that the company makes pre-orders available pretty soon after it concludes.

Pre-orders for the Surface Pro 7 first went live following the Microsoft event on October 2.

As such, we'd advise than when Microsoft does host its Surface event later this year, you should load up the Microsoft Store beforehand to guarantee your purchase ahead of others.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Price

Surface Pro pricing has remained fairly consistent since its launch, so we'd expect the Surface Pro 8 to cost similar to the 7.

This would mean we could expect the base Surface Pro 8 model to cost around $800/£799. Different configurations based on RAM and storage could see the Pro 8 cost up to $2,229/£2,249.

However, as with many things in 2021, the Surface Pro 8 could buck the trend. Component shortages and additional costs could see the latest Microsoft device receive a price increase to offset these costs.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Latest News And Rumours

Rumours about the Surface Pro 8 remain few-and-far-between. However, there have been a few leaks that could give us some insight.

The most revealing leak came from an alleged eBay listing for the Surface Pro 8.

As reported by Tom's Guide, the Surface Pro 8 will feature Intel's 11th-Gen 'Tiger Lake' CPU, and the same chassis as the Surface Pro 7.

However, with the 12th-Gen 'Alder Lake' CPU also just around the corner, there remains the chance that Microsoft could opt for the latest Intel product instead.
