Rumours about the next MacBook Pro have been prevalent for some time now, but is 2021 finally the year of its release?

Late-2021 looks to be packed with Apple products already. With the iPhone 13, AirPods 3, iPad (9th Generation) already out and a potential MacBook Pro releasing, now seems like a great time to be an Apple fan.

So, here's when you can expect to get ahold of the next MacBook laptop.

MacBook Pro 2021 Release Date

The 2021 MacBook Pro model will be a 14"/16" laptop allegedly slated for release in October/November 2021. The announcement of the Apple 'Unleashed' Event on October 18th is where the new MacBook Pro is expected to debut, as per Jon Porter at The Verge.

According to DigiTimes, Apple will delay the MacBook Pro release date to this October/November period due to component shortages. DigiTimes claims this is "instead of the usual September", although Apple's MacBook Pro's have never released during this month, which is reserved for the annual iPhone launch.

Elsewhere, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman appeared to suggest the MacBook Pro did suffer a slight delay. Despite this, it should release before the end of November 2021.

"Unfortunately, some hiccups have led to production delays for the revamped 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M1X chips," Gurman said. "But they should still go on sale by the time the current MacBook Pro hits its two-year anniversary."

The MacBook Pro first launched in November 2019.

Looking at these rumours, DylanDKT also tweeted in June that the MacBook Pro will launch in Q4 2021.

Indeed, a recent post by AppleInsider shows that the 16" MacBook Pro was accidentally leaked in Germany, suggesting an impending arrival.

The most recent release date information comes from DigiTimes. The site suggested that both the 14" and 16" MacBook Pro laptops are in mass production. 600,000-800,000 units will be produced between August and November, according to the site.

However, it is worth taking this rumour lightly at the moment. We've heard various MacBook Pro rumours in the past that have failed to pan out.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously suggested the MacBook Pro would release in late 2020, but this never came to fruition.

Similarly, Mark Gurman reported the MacBook Pro would release in mid-2021. Further speculation suggested this would be revealed at WWDC 2021. This did not happen, and Gurman has now said the MacBook Pro will release between September and November.

MacBook Pro 2021 Price

According to leaker Dylandkt, the new MacBook Pro 14" laptops may see a price increase, starting at a much higher price point than the current MacBook Pro 13".

When the MacBook Pro 13" release, its price started at $1299/£1299.

With the currency MacBook Pro 16" price starting at $2399/£2399, it may end up that both the 14" and 16" MacBook Pro laptops have price points closer to that.

MacBook Pro 2021 Latest News And Rumours

There has been lots of talk about the brand new features of the upcoming MacBook Pro laptop, given the extended wait time for its release.

With the Apple M2 chip releasing in 2022 according to reports, the next MacBook Pro will feature an upgrade on the M1, called the M1X, says Mark Gurman.

According to YouTuber Luke Miani (via Notebook Check), the MacBook Pro could feature one of four M1X chips, each with either 16GB or 32GB of RAM, and 16 or 18 cores.

Bloomberg's Gurman also suggested the Pro will drop the divisive Touch Bar and re-introduce the popular MagSafe charging option.

Continuing this trend of re-introducing old features, the next MacBook Pro may also include an HDMI port and a UHS-II SD Card reader.

Speaking to MacRumors, Ming-Chi Kuo said:

"We predict that Apple's two new MacBook Pro models in 2H21 will have several significant design and specification changes. Some of the practical changes for users are equipping with the SD card reader and HDMI port."

As for the display, 2021 may see the end of the 13" MacBook Pro. Apple will only list 14" and 16" variants of the next MacBook Pro model.
