How do I take part in Prime Day 2020?

Before getting into the into and outs of exactly what type of deals you can expect, the most important thing to know about Prime Day is that you must be an Amazon Prime member to take full advantage of the various deals.

If you’ve just got a regular account you might be able to grab some savings, but without a Prime subscription you’ll miss out on many of the deepest discounts

Thankfully, Amazon does offer a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, and afterwards, the service is just £7.99 a month.

Prime membership is well worth the relatively small monthly fee as it gives you access to a host of features including FREE one-day delivery and streaming service Prime Video, you can sign up here.

When is Prime Day 2020?

Typically Prime Day happens during the summer months, but due to the coronavirus, the event was delayed into the winter.

Prime Day 2020 is confirmed to be taking place from the 13 October - 14 October, the deals will kick off at 0:01am on the 13th and will conclude at 11.59pm on the 14th.

Some deals will run across the entire event will some will only be available for a limited time, more on that below.

What will be on sale?

Amazon is always very secretive about what exactly will be on sale during Prime Day, however this year it has been confirmed that both Nintendo and PlayStation products will be included in the sale, and we wouldn't be surprised to see some offerings from Microsoft as well.

We’d not expect to see a discount on the PlayStation 5, partially because Amazon can’t even keep the next-gen console in stock, but savings on the PS4 are a safe bet, and a discount on the always-popular Nintendo Switch would go down a treat.

Amazon is usually pretty big on discounting its own products for Prime Day, such as the Echo, FireStick and Kindle ranges, so if you’re after a voice-assistant or an e-reader then you’ll likely be able to save yourself some serious coin.

Early Prime Day deals are already running, so make sure to be continually checking the Deal of the Day page in the runup to the big day.

What are lightning deals?

As mentioned not all deals will run across the whole of Prime Day 2020, some will be available for a limited time only, these are known as lightning deals.

Some lightning deals are set to run for a specific window of time, such as for two hours, and some are only active until a certain amount of stock is sold. Many deals open up to Prime members first, and often sell out during this window - so make sure you've got your Prime membership sorted!

With so many products on sale and the constantly rotating nature of lightning deals, making sure you don’t miss a tempting deal can be a tricky task, so why not let us do the hard work for you?

We’ll be regularly updating our Prime Day 2020 hub with the best deals available, and Gfinity Deals will be tweeting out the biggest savings the minute they go live, make sure you’re following and have notifications turned on to ensure you don’t miss a single deal.
