Dead By Daylight Leatherface Build Guide: The Best Killer Perks, Powers, Add-Ons and Tips

An iconic killer from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Leatherface (Bubba Sawyer) is chainsaw-wielding Killer in Dead by Daylight. He was revealed in a DLC that shares the Killer’s name: LEATHERFACE. Unlike most of the other Killers, he did not come with a Survivor and instead was released by himself.

In-game, Leatherface is referred to as The Cannibal, but for this guide we’ll be using his movie name.

Dead By Daylight Leatherface Killer Guide: Perks

Leatherface has three unique perks that can be unlocked for other Killers via the Bloodweb.

  • Knockout - When you down a Survivor with your basic attack, their field of view (FOV) is decreased, they gain the Blindness status effect and crawl 50% slower for 15 seconds. Survivors are not able to see the knocked down Survivor’s aura farther away from them than 32/24/16 metres.

  • BBQ & Chilli - Each time a Survivor is hooked, all other Survivor Auras are revealed to you for 4 seconds if they are 40 metres away from the Hook’s location. For each unique Survivor hooked once, you also earn a 25% bonus to all Bloodpoint gains.

  • Franklin’s Demise - When hit with a basic attack, Survivors will drop their items and if not recovered within 150/120/90 seconds, it’ll become lost to the Entity.

Dead By Daylight Leatherface Killer Guide: Power

Leatherface’s Power is called Bubba’s Chainsaw.

When you first enter a Trial, Bubba’s Chainsaw has 3 charges. To use the Chainsaw for 2 seconds gets rid of 1 of the charges, and to keep using the charges you’ll need to press the Power button again - turning your Chainsaw attack into a Chainsaw Sweep. The charges for Bubba’s Chainsaw replenish when not in use.

When Survivors are hit via a Chainsaw attack, they’ll immediately be put into the Dying state. This can be changed to only injure Survivors via an add-on.

Revving Bubba’s Chainsaw increases the Tantrum meter. Once full or after hitting an obstacle during a Chainsaw Sweep, Leatherface will spiral into a Tantrum and slash and hit wildly - putting Survivors in the Dying state if they get close. However, Leatherface’s movement speed is tremendously decreased during a Tantrum - making it easier for Survivors to rush away.

Dead By Daylight Leatherface Killer Guide: Best Add-Ons

Leatherface is an average Killer in every sense of the word. He has an average Movement Speed, and while his power is something to be scared of when up close and personal with him, he doesn’t have the finesse of The Huntress nor the calculating of The Trapper. Still, there are Add-Ons that can help him against Survivors.

Iridescent Flesh - This add-on lets Leatherface’s charges replenish each time he hits a Survivor. This is incredibly useful if Survivors are clumped together, allowing you to possibly down one or two Survivors in one Chainsaw Sweep.

Light Chassis - While revving Bubba’s Chainsaw, you’re able to see the Auras of Survivors within 8 metres of you. This is extremely helpful for rooting out immersive Survivors who want to hide from you, but does have the risk of triggering a Tantrum if you use the add-on too much.

Award-Winning Chilli - Move faster for longer with this add-on. Leatherface’s Chainsaw Dash and Sweep are moderately increased, making it easier to catch up to Survivors and down them with your power.

Begrimed Chains - This add-on works like a mini Franklin’s Demise, as Survivors hit with this actively drop their items. Unfortunately, you’re unable to see the Auras of these dropped items, but it does cause a good amount of confusion and slow down, as most Survivors will either return for their item or leave it rather than risk being hit again.

Dead By Daylight Leatherface Killer Guide: Tips and Tricks

  • Leatherface can bait Survivors to drop a Pallet by revving his chainsaw. Make sure not to get stunned by it, and then use your power on the Pallet to break it and continue on with your Chase. Your power gets rid of Pallets faster than the usual Break animation.

  • You want to try your best to get Survivors out in the open and away from places that you’re not good at with your Chainsaw - aka Windows and Vaults. That’s why Bamboozle is a very good Perk on Leatherface as it blocks the areas off that most Survivors use to escape from you.

  • If Survivors go into Lockers during a Chase with you, bump into the Locker and cause a Tantrum. If the Survivors leave the Locker, even to stun you with Head-On, they’ll be immediately downed. And if they don’t leave, you can just grab them out of the Locker instead.

  • Don’t rely too much on Bubba’s Chainsaw - if you need to do a simple basic attack then do so. Otherwise, you’ll risk losing the Survivor or not getting a hit at all. An Injured Survivor is better than a healthy one.

  • Hook Survivors in the Basement whenever possible. It’s a tight area, and you’re able to use your Chainsaw Sweep to knock down more than one Survivor if aimed and timed correctly. Tight areas with multiple Survivors in are your one-way ticket to winning the Trial.

  • Camping Survivors is certainly a strategy associated with Leatherface, but it really isn’t the play. Getting Survivors off generators is, so even if you’re tempted to camp the Hook… Just don’t. It’s not fun, for you or the people you’re playing with.
