Cyberpunk 2077 Player Gets Bored Of Waiting, Starts Building Version 1.3 Himself

CD Projekt Red's remained quiet about Cyberpunk 2077 for a little while now. Outside of an erroneous ad that mistakenly led to Update 1.3 speculation, we've not seen much beyond recent sales figures on PS4, and some fans are getting tired of waiting.

However, we didn't expect to see anyone try and create their own Update 1.3 but, as reported by Forbes, that's exactly what one fan is doing. Created by Reddit user u/Scissors123454321, they've been working on an ambitious "Megamod", meant to fix existing bugs and transform existing gameplay systems. That'll launch on August 20th for PC players.

Cyberpunk 2077 Player Gets Bored Of Waiting, Starts Building Version 1.3 Himself

Offering a 17-page Google Doc that describes this project, u/Scissors123454321 states they've "rework as little as possible", focusing mostly on bug fixing and numbers balancing. Stating they've tried to keep it feeling "as close as possible to the vanilla game mechanically," they've outlined some key areas, which you can find below:

Changes not in a single file:

  • Removed scaling (not for immersion, this enables me to fix many bugs)
  • Lowered crit chances
  • Removed immunities (mostly) and replaced them with resistances

Changes (mostly) in a single file:

  • AI Improvements and Enemy Balancing
  • Armor and Armor Mods
  • Cyberware
  • Explosives
  • Food Drink and Alcohol
  • Gameplay Mechanics
  • Healing and Drugs
  • Melee and Melee Mechanics
  • Perks
  • Player Stats
  • Ranged Weapons
  • Quickhacks
  • Vendors and Pricing
  • Weapon Mods

It's clear that Megamod's got incredible scope, looking set to address several quality-of-life changes that CD Projekt Red's refused to make so far. Even adding in custom effects like drugs for restoring health and stamina regeneration. There's a good chance CDPR's official Update 1.3 may break this but until then, it's a promising project.
