Cyberpunk 2077 Labelled As 'Defective' By GameStop, All Returns Accepted

Cyberpunk 2077's launch has been a mess, and the latest damning indictment of the game's rough release is a new internal memo to GameStop employees.

According to Kotaku and Vice Games' Patrick Klepek, GameStop will allow for customers to return Cyberpunk 2077 – even if the product has been opened.

Standard policy at Gamestop is to not permit returns if a product is open, but the company has labelled Cyberpunk 2077 copies as "defective".

Since the game launched on December 10, CD Projekt Red has apologised for the state of the console versions of the game before offering refunds.

In the week and a half following, Microsoft is accepting all refunds, while Sony has delisted the game from the PlayStation store.

CDPR has even offered to refund the game themselves.

Even once those refunds are paid, there's the potential for a lawsuit, leaving many to wonder if the Polish studio can ever recover the goodwill that Cyberpunk 2077's release has cost them.
