CSGO: Starladder Berlin Major 2019 Dates, Tickets, Format, Teams, Prize Pool And More

The CSGO Starladder Berlin Major 2019 is the second major of the year and is already a third of the way complete after the New Challenge Stage finished. As the next phase begins, we can take a look at the CSGO Berlin Major format and teams, as well as the future dates. Tickets are available for the tournament, which is hosted by Starladder, featuring 24 teams in total.

The CSGO Starladder Berlin Major 2019 is the 15th Valve-sponsored tournament in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championship and the second major of the year. Dates for the CSGO Berlin Major have been confirmed as well as the format and teams. Tickets are available for the tournament, which is hosted by Starladder, featuring 24 teams in total.

Dates, Venue And Tickets

The event takes place from the 23rd August to the 8th September. The 'New Challengers' stage will take place from the 23rd-26th August, the 'Returning Challengers' stage commences on the 28th August to the 1st September with the competition being rounded up with the 'New Champions' Stage on the 5th September to the 8th September.

Each stage takes place at the Mercedez-Benz Arena in Berlin, Germany and tickets for all three stages are availabe now:

Format

The tournament takes place in three stages. The 'New Challengers' stage will take place from the 23rd-26th August, the 'Returning Challengers' stage commences on the 28th August to the 1st September with the competition being rounded up with the 'New Champions' Stage on the 5th September to the 8th September.

The New Challengers Stage

The 'New Challengers Stage', taking place on the 23rd-26th August, features a 16 team Swiss system - elimination and advancement matches are best of 3 series and all other matches are best of 1. The top 8 teams proceed to the 'New Legends Stage' to meet the returning legends with the bottom 8 being eliminated.

There are five Returning Challengers, those that competed in the Legends Stage of the IEM Katowice Major but fell short of the top eight, while eleven came through the Minors. Usually there are 6 teams, however Cloud9 forfeited their spot due to being unable to have the minimum required players necessary to hold their spot and an extra spot was available through the minors.

The New Legends Stage

The 'New Legends Stage', taking place on the 28th August to the 1st September, features a 16 team Swiss system - elimination and advancement matches are best of 3 series and all other matches are best of 1. The top 8 teams proceed to the 'New Champions Stage' to meet the returning legends with the bottom 8 being eliminated.

The top 8 teams from the 'New Challengers Stage' will compete in the 'New Legends Stage' alongside the current legends - these teams were the top 8 from IEM Katowice.

The New Champions Stage

The 'New Champions' Stage on the 5th September to the 8th September, features an 8 team single-elimination bracket system - all matches in this final phase of the competition are best of 3 series from the quarter-final to the grand final.

Prize Pool

In total, the prize pool is $1,000,000 with positions being paid out all the way to the top 16 teams. The prize breakdown is as follows:
