Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S Launch Game Guide

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Ubisoft's long-running franchise may have jumped from a third-person action game to more of an RPG over the course of the last console generation, but Valhalla looks to offer the best of both worlds.

One-hit kills with the hidden blade are back, but players can now build up their settlement, with branching story paths based on decisions made within it. New hero Eivor can even dual wield weapons, even shields, so expect a much deeper combat system.

The big racing launch title for the new Xbox consoles, DIRT 5 brings the varied racing that the series is known for into the new generation with stunning visuals.

With the voice talents of Nolan North and Troy Baker in career mode, as well as the chance to race everything from off-road buggies, super trucks, rallycross and more, DIRT 5 will also offer four-player local split-screen multiplayer.

EA Sports' footballing juggernaut likely needs no introduction, but the developers have been relatively quiet about what next-gen features will be part of the Series X and Series S versions.

What we do know is that FIFA 21 is being described by EA as having "the most intelligent FIFA gameplay to date", so expect players to make more intelligent runs when building an attack, or react more quickly to loose balls.

Gears Tactics

Microsoft's turn-based tactics game based on the hit shooter franchise has been impressively received on PC already, and it'll make its console debut on the Series S and Series X at launch.

Swapping third-person shooting for X-Com style strategy has proven to be a great fit for Gears, and it'll include new content on console, including new enemies and Jack, Delta Squad's longtime robot companion. It'll also offer native 4K visuals and 60 FPS on the Series X.

It doesn't look like Gears Tactics will be getting a physical release, but it will be available digitally on Xbox Games Pass on launch day.

NBA 2K21

We're still yet to find out what the differences are with the current and next-gen versions of NBA 2K21, but we do know that the Series S/Series X version is being built from the ground up to make full use of the next-gen console's increased performance.

We're expecting it to look better, play better, and load faster at the very least, but we'll update this as we hear more.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Potentially one of the most ambitious titles of 2020, Watch Dogs: Legion lets players hop into seemingly any NPC and convert them to a playable character.

Players will be able to enjoy this near-future version of London with DirectX Raytracing, meaning it'll look absolutely stunning on both Series S and Series X.
