PS5: PlayStation Worldwide Studios Boss Says The Next Gen Console Will Focus On "Strong, Narrative-Driven Single-Player Games"

PlayStation Worldwide Studios boss Hermen Hulst says that PlayStation is committed to delivering new single-player games with a heavy focus on story going into next-gen.

In a conversation with the PlayStation Blog, Hulst was asked about the direction he sees Worldwide Studios going in the future with the PS5 era.

He replied with "We’re very committed to dedicated hardware, as we were before. We’re gonna continue to do that. And we’re very committed to quality exclusives. And to strong narrative-driven, single-player games".

He then went on to say "At the same time, we’re going to be very open to experimentation, to new ideas. Just trying things out to see what works. I think that’s also very much part of the DNA of Worldwide Studios".

It sounds a lot like the PlayStation 5 will be moving in a very similar direction as the PS4, which has been an incredible console for strong narrative-driven games, and, for its time, unparalleled graphics.

Although keeping the focus on everything that worked in the past isn't by any means a bad idea, we hope to see some big surprises from Sony and its next-gen console.

Now that the Xbox Series X has near enough put (most of) its card on the table, all eyes are on Sony, as we wait for the big reveal, keep up to date with the console wars here.
