All eyes are on Verdansk as the Call of Duty community waits patiently for the Call of Duty: Vanguard worldwide reveal taking place on August 19th. While many are looking forward to getting a first look at the brand-new first-person shooter releasing later in the year, players will be able to get their hands on the game much earlier than anticipated.
Just like Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare, Sledgehammer Games will host an alpha test for Vanguard but this time around, the test will solely focus on a brand-new game mode reportedly known as Champion Hill.
What Is Champion Hill?
Despite no official details surrounding what the alpha will feature, numerous leaks have already revealed how Champion Hill will work. According to notable leaker Tom Henderson, the mode features buy stations, cash, and more.
Based on this information, Champion Hill sounds similar to the Arenas mode from Apex Legends which involves mechanics of a similar nature which has proven to be a hit amongst the player base. Champion Hill is said to feature a total of 24 players split into eight teams of three. The team that is the last one standing is the winner.
With the debut of Champion Hill, it's being reported that the mode will be replacing Gunfight, another hugely popular game mode that first appeared with the release of Modern Warfare in 2019. Whether Champion Hill can live up to the popularity of Gunfight remains to be seen but based on these early details, it certainly sounds promising.
COD Vanguard Alpha Date
According to rumours, the Vanguard alpha will begin on August 27th and end on August 29th and will be exclusively available to PlayStation players thanks to Activision's existing deal with Sony.
