Three Issues That Must Be Fixed Before Vanguard Releases

Throughout the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta, players have been getting their first look at Sledgehammer Games' latest release into the storied first-person shooter franchise. During the beta, the community has also been sharing plenty of feedback surrounding various elements of the game, giving the developer plenty of time to address the issues before the full game releases on November 5th.

So far, there are a few glaring flaws that have been pointed out by a number of players ranging from poor visibility to some questionable spawn logic that can have a huge impact on the outcome of a match. Here are three fundamental problems that must be addressed in order for Vanguard to be a success.

1) Visibility

Levels of visibility have been a controversial talking point amongst players, particularly on maps such as Red Star and Gavutu where constant snowfall and blinding sunlight have made it almost impossible for players to see anything in their field of view. For Red Star, the slow build-up of snow on the ground combined with the contrast of light and dark surfaces make it very difficult to spot opposition in cover.

Rather than the snow causing visibility problems, Gavutu's glare from the sun resonates across the entire screen, as FaZe Clan member Swagg found out during a match.

Visual improvements can be made by tweaking some of the in-game settings but even when the changes have been implemented, the glare on specific angles can still cause problems.

2) Spawns

As with any Call of Duty title, it does take some time for developers to refine the spawn system in order for it to make sense on a casual and competitive level. The return of squad spawns has been met with widespread backlash, with the feature making it almost impossible to read where the opposing team is going to be appearing on the map. It's bad on Tactical combat pacing but in Assault and Blitz, being shot in the back as a mixture of teammates and enemies spawn in exactly the same location is far from ideal. Let's hope Sledgehammer Games takes the feedback on board and the spawns are much better in Vanguard's launch build.

3) Audio

Alongside the spawns and visibility, audio has been another hotly debated topic amongst the community. More often than not, the footsteps of teammates and opponents are very difficult to distinguish, especially over the top of the loud gunfire and Killstreaks that regularly fall from the sky. Combine this with Dead Silence users temporarily muting the movement audio, it's extremely difficult to determine where an opponent could be appearing.

Sledgehammer Games has already confirmed changes to Vanguard's audio are in the works so it will be interesting to see what's changed when the full game releases on November 5th.

There you have it, these are the the three issues that need to be addressed ahead of Vanguard's anticipated launch. For more news on the game, check out our dedicated hub containing everything you need to know and the complete list of weapons that will be available to use in multiplayer.
