Call of Duty 2021 will run on Modern Warfare's Engine

Call of Duty 2021 is fast approaching, and it's shaping up to be quite an epic expereince.

So far, it's been rumoured that the next title will be called Call of Duty Vanguard and will be set in World War 2.

IW8 Engine

This engine took 5 years to develop in poland and was first featured in Modern Warfare back in 2019.

The engine takes advantage of advancements in visual engineering as well as includes DirectX Raytracing and a new GPU geometry pipeline.

Although a lot of this sounds like gibberish, the IW8 engine delivers on multiple features and is the reason MW looks and feels as good as it does.

So why did Black Ops Cold War not utilise this Engine?

BOCW Engine

BOCW, developed by Treyarch, uses an entirely different engine to it predesecor.

As each COD title is developed by a different studio each year, the engine they use may vary depending on what they have planned.

Although this engine isn't considered 'worse', it does seem to be a lot less complex when compared to the IW8 Engine.

Release Date

Although there's no release date for the upcoming Call of Duty title, we can expect the game to release around October/November.
