Warzone Hits 100 Million Players In Just Over A Year


While it's not quite a tropical beach, Verdansk has clearly been a popular destination for gamers over the last year and change.

Activision revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone, the company's free-to-play battle royale, has reached 100 million players since its launch on March 10, 2020.

Warzone Hits 100 Million Players In Just Over A Year

That's an impressive metric, and it's not likely to stop anytime soon. A new in-game event will occur later this month that'll make big changes to the Verdansk map.

It'll also usher in Season 3 of content, with new content for players to enjoy.

Apex Legends, another free-to-play battle royale, announced that it had hit 100 million players in a new trailer last week, two years from launch.

While Warzone has the benefit of the Call of Duty brand name, it also arguably landed at the perfect time - just as the world entered lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
