Over the past two weeks, Activision, Treyarch, and Raven Software have been teasing the imminent release of Season 5 for Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, much to the excitement of the community that is beginning to grow tired of what Season 4 has to offer. With all teasers and trailers confirming that the new season would commence on August 12th, a quiet change to both titles may have changes the starting date.
The Season 4 Battle Pass was scheduled to end on August 11th, but many players have been quick to notice that its end date has been extended by 24 hours, much to their confusion. Has the start of Season 5 encountered a delay? Here's everything we know.
Has Warzone Season 5 Been Delayed?
The conversation of a potential delay first appeared on August 10th, with many players noticing that the Battle Pass had received a surprise extension that wasn't communicated by Activision. Alongside the extension of the Battle Pass, the key artwork for Season 5 on the Call of Duty website has changed to mention that "Season Five is Available This Week," rather than the exact date.
Activision To Reveal More Information
After DualShockers made contact with Call of Duty's publisher after reporting a potential delay could take place, Activision responded stating that it will reveal more information as to why the Battle Pass was extended and the key art has changed in the near future.
It's unclear as to why Activision would delay the launch of Season 5, even though the publisher is under the spotlight after the state of California filed a lawsuit against Activision amid claims of workplace harassment. This may have played a role in the delay but until more information is released, we will have to wait and see as to why Season 5 may be kicking off later than expected.
