Gallo SA12 Receives Major Nerf In Warzone September 23rd Update

Even though Season 5 Reloaded of Warzone is coming to an end, Raven Software is continuing to make changes to the battle royale as the attention slowly turns towards the launch of Season 6. The most recent change arrived on September 23rd and featured several changes to the popular Iron Trials mode alongside a hefty nerf to one of the most popular shotguns available in the arsenal.

Throughout Season 5, players have been utilising the powerful Gallo SA12 to their advantage in close-quarters combat, and with it quickly becoming overpowered, the developer has stepped in and nerfed the shotgun.

It wasn't just the Gallo that received a nerf. The Bullfrog submachine gun also saw a number of changes made in order to bring it in line with the rest of the available weapons to use as part of a loadout. Here's a closer look at how Raven Software has opted to nerf the Gallo:

  • Maximum damage range decreased from 4.5 to 3.5 metres.
  • Second damage range decreased from 8.1 to 5.5 metres.
  • Third damage range decreased from 13.2 to 9.9 metres.

With such a significant decrease in damage range, the Gallo no longer dominates in close-range scenarios. While this is bad news for players that love the shotgun, it's a positive for those that want Warzone's weapon balance to be a top priority. To justify the nerf, Raven Software revealed why it put an end to the Gallo's dominance.

“The Shotgun Bravo (BOCW) has been incredibly dominant due to its Effective Damage Range, Magazine Capacity, Mobility, and Rate of Fire. By reducing its Effective Damage Ranges, the Shotgun Bravo (BOCW) will begin to feel more like a Shotgun and less like a Sniper.”

Best Gallo SA12 Alternatives

Even though the Gallo is likely to fall out of favour with players, there are many other shotguns that can take its place in the close-quarters meta. Plenty of top Brazilian Warzone players have found a JAK-12 loadout that's just as dominant as the pre-patch Gallo. Here are the best attachments to equip to this often overlooked shotgun:

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Barrel: ZLR J-2800 Influx
  • Laser: 5mW Laser
  • Rear Grip: Rubberized Grip Tape
  • Perk: Sleight of Hand

This particular combination of attachments dominates in close-range scenarios thanks to its incredibly fast time to kill and high levels of mobility. It's highly likely that this JAK-12 build will slot straight into the meta where the Gallo once sat.

While we wait and see if the JAK-12 meta takes off, check out everything you need to know about Season 6 and the return of Alex Mason as an Operator.
