Attention is slowly beginning to turn towards the anticipated release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, much to the excitement of the community that is slowly growing to the idea of the franchise returning to a World War 2 setting. Following the success of the Champion Hill Alpha, and the huge amount of feedback Sledgehammer Games has received, several players are calling for the classic Prestige levelling system to make a return in the upcoming title.
In previous titles, players that reached the highest level were given the option to reset everything and work their way through unlocking weapons and attachments all over again alongside gaining access to an exclusive level icon and after two years of a confusing Prestige system, players are wanting the older version to re-appear in Vanguard.
Call of Duty: Vanguard Prestige System
Reddit user 'smlfan123' took a trip down memory lane and looked back at how simple the old Prestige system was and how disappointed they had become over the more complex system that first appeared in 2019's Modern Warfare. Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare saw the addition of Seasonal Levels that allowed players to keep all of their unlocks while their level was reset to a base in which they could begin levelling up once a new season had begun.
Many users agreed with the player, stating that they preferred the old Prestige mode to the new model that replaced it. Rather than implementing a complete overhaul of the current system, another user suggested adding two separate ranks for players.
"Create two separate ranks: One shows your overall rank, and the other shows your Season Rank. Best of both worlds," the user explained.
It's currently unclear as to whether the classic Prestige model will return in Vanguard but there's every chance we will hear more information about it during the multiplayer reveal taking place on September 7th.
