Twitter user @WW2Vanguard has claimed the Vanguard alpha will begin on August 27th, much to the surprise of fans that were expecting it to take place in a few weeks.

As always with leaks and rumours, it's important to take them with a pinch of salt until official information is revealed from either Activision or Sledgehammer Games.

COD Vanguard Alpha PlayStation Exclusive

Thanks to Sony's existing marketing deal with Activision, the leaker also states that the alpha will be exclusive to PlayStation players, leaving Xbox and PC players with a longer wait before they can test the new game for themselves.

It's unclear as to whether an alpha will launch for other platforms but based on recent Call of Duty alphas, the chances of it happening are relatively slim.
