Vanguard downloads several shader packs after the first install to ensure the game looks as good as possible. However, if this appears to be stuck, there are a few ways players can go about fixing the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do so:

Repair the Files

  • Open Battle.net launcher
  • Select Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Click on the “Options”
  • Select “Scan and Repair”

Battle.net verifies the integrity of the game files by choosing the scanning and repairing option. Any missing or corrupted file gets highlighted and downloaded again. This may fix the stuck compiling shaders issue.

Reinstall the Game

  • Uninstall the game from the game library
  • Go to the Vanguard tab after uninstall
  • Click on Install

While there might be various reasons for PC players experiencing this issue, there’s usually one fix for console players. That is simply reinstalling the game.

Restart the Shader Compilation

  • Go to Vanguard Settings
  • Select Graphics
  • Select Restart Shader Compilation

This allows players to delete the shader cache and restart all compilations. This might be another way to solve the stuck issue.

The above solutions will help you rectify the compiling error as it’s a common issue. In the meanwhile, you can tweak your settings to your liking following our several guides for Vanguard's FOV settings, the best audio settings to use, and the best controller settings that could well give you an advantage, especially when it comes to slide-canceling.
