Call of Duty Vanguard Zombies Dark Aether Entities & Artifacts Explained


The worldwide launch of Call of Duty Vanguard is right around the corner, with many members of the community looking forward to seeing what Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch have in store. Alongside an immersive single-player campaign and a multiplayer packed with new additions, the game will also feature a new Zombies experience set in the Dark Aether.

Der Anfang will feature Dark Aether entities which will give players specific abilities known as artifacts. They will act similar to how Field Upgrades functioned in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. With Kortifex the Deathless assisting Von List and the undead army, there are four Dark Aether entities that can be used to defeat the hordes of undead opposition. Here's a full list of entities and their abilities:

  • Dragon of Saraxis: Spans an Aetherial explosive, dealing massive damage to enemies who set it off.
  • Mask of Bellekar: Cloaks you in Dark Aether, masking your presence from enemies for 5 seconds.
  • Sword of Inviktor: Sparks a ring of Aetherial flame to boost damage for anyone within its radius for 15 seconds.
  • Horn of Norticus: Summons a frigid vortex, damaging enemies with the initial blast and slowing those that enter.

Will More Dark Aether Entities Be Added?

Depending on where Treyarch will take the Der Anfang storyline, there is a chance of new Dark Aether entities joining the fight against Kortifex. It's likely that new destinations will be added alongside the likes of Shi No Numa when a new season of post-launch content gets underway. Could these locations be the homes of new Dark Aether entities and artifacts that could swing the battle against the undead? We will have to wait and see.
