Gearbox CEO Denies Rumors That The Company is Co-Developing a New Borderlands Game

Rumors have been circulating in the community this week stating that Gearbox Software was currently co-developing a new possible spinoff Borderlands title.

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford had this to say on Twitter, "I am told of rumors that Gearbox is "assisting" or "co-developing" another Borderlands game (or a new spin-off game). These rumors are NOT accurate. Gearbox is lead dev of any future games in the Borderlands franchise (or any Borderlands adjacent games) with no co-development."

Gearbox Software will be attending E3 which takes place next week, so fans may be seeing a small glimpse at what the future holds for Borderlands.

Borderlands 3 was released in late 2019 and we have seen frequent updates to the game and even a director's cut added just last month, which brought with it new missions and a bunch of behind-the-scenes content.

Randy did acknowledge the rumors of a possible spin-off game reportedly in the works and there is definitely a new game coming, so with all the recent updates to Borderlands 3, could we expect the lifespan to last a few more years while we get a spin-off Borderlands title in the meantime?
