Clayster Announces Break From Professional Call of Duty

Ahead of the Seattle Home Series, competitive Call of Duty legend James "Clayster" Eubanks has announced he will be taking a break from competing in the Call of Duty League (CDL) as part of the New York Subliners franchise. The three-time world champion revealed the news on July 19th following on from the Subliners' worst start to a Stage this season.

Replacing Clayster for the upcoming event will be former Subliners player Conor "Diamondcon" Johst as the team looks to reverse its fortunes in Stage 5, the final stage of the regular season before the beginning of the CDL Playoffs and season-ending Champs event.

With many fans wanting to know more about Clayster's decision, the veteran took to Twitter to shed some light on his choice to take a temporary leave of absence from the highest level of COD esports.

"Just need a break from it all." Eubanks stated. "I'm sure you have all seen I haven't been myself in quite some time, need to take a step back and get myself straight mentally. Gotta take care of yourself over everything, and I don't plan on this being 'for good,' but I hope the boys crush it."

With one Home Series and a Major tournament remaining before the post-season playoffs begin, the New York Subliners currently sit in 4th place with a total of 310 CDL Points, meaning their position in the top eight is all but guaranteed if a strong Major V placement can be scored. It's no surprise to see the veteran taking a step back having previously stated that the switch to online competition has "sucked the fun" out of the CDL.
