After confirming offline competition would be returning at some point during 2021, the Call of Duty League has officially revealed details on when the top tier of competition will be returning to LAN!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Call of Duty esports alongside the rest of the industry, transitioned to online competition to ensure the health and safety of fans, players, and everyone involved in making an event happen.
With the health situation slowly improving, Call of Duty esports is one of the few esports that will be returning to LAN competition in 2021. The last offline CDL event was held in March 2020, with OpTic Gaming Los Angeles and the LA Guerrillas hosting their respective home series.
Here's everything you need to know about the return to LAN!
Call Of Duty League Returns To LAN
On May 6th, the CDL announced that LAN would be returning for the Stage 4 Major, the third of five Major competitions that feature $500,000 in prize money alongside those all-important CDL Points.
For those looking to attend the event, it's bad news! The Stage 4 Major will be open to the teams and staff working at the event, adhering to strict health and safety protocols that have been put in place to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance.
Stage 4 Major Details
The Stage 4 Major will take place from June 17th-20th at the Esports Stadium Arlington in Texas.
As mentioned above, there will be $500,000 on the line as well as CDL Points that will ultimately decide the teams that make it into the season-ending playoffs.
When Will Fans Return?
It's currently unclear as to when fans will be able to return to CDL events but we will still be able to watch all of the action unfold on YouTube!
Depending on the health and safety of everyone attending the Major, there may be a possibility that a small number of fans could attend the season-ending CDL Championship but it is far too early to tell.
The return to LAN is a huge step towards some kind of normality in the esports world. If the situation continues to improve, fans will be allowed to return sooner rather than later but until then, stay safe and enjoy all the action from home.
