GTA 5 Next-Gen Versions To Use Red Dead Redemption 2 Engine

Nice!

The rumors surrounding GTA 6 are growing even stronger with the arrival of the next-generation of consoles.

GTA 5 Online is keeping us more than occupied, for now, as it re-releases for the third time; but there is no doubt players are longing for the next installment.

Fans were heavily disappointed during 2020's game shows, as once again we were greeted with a new iteration of GTA 5; but this time for next-generation consoles.

Now, a new leak by some data miners has noted that the brand new version of GTA 5 will be using the same engine from another Rockstar title.

Here's what we know!

Old-Engine

It is no strange practice for a developer to use another game's engine for a new title they are releasing.

Now, it appears Rockstar is going to be following suit with this practise; as new leaks over on the GTA Forums allude to the notion that they are using Red Dead Redemption 2's engine for the enhanced version of GTA 5.

This was noted by forum user Tez2 who noted the following:

@alloc8or found out new structs that were added with the recent update relating to the standalone version and one of them is "rage::fwuiMessageBase", which is from RDR2's RAGE version, so that seems to go along what

@Spider-Vice & @uNi stated, that the enhanced edition is likely to utilize RDR2's RAGE version. However, it could just be that the UI would utilize RDR2's base code, while the rest remains the same.

The rest of the new structs are listed here:

  • uiGoToPageMessage
  • uiLandingPage_GoToStoryMode
  • CDecisionPageBase
  • CFTUECompleteDecisionPage (First Time User Experience)
  • CHasCharacterToTransferDecisionPage
  • CSignedInDecisionPage
  • CStoryModeAvailableDecisionPage

What this means for GTA 5 on next-gen consoles is still up in the air, but we will be sure to let you know!
