CD Projekt To Be Investigated By Polish Consumer Protection Agency Following Cyberpunk 2077 Release

More trouble is coming

Cyberpunk 2077 made history, not only for selling copies but for having one of the rockiest releases in modern-day gaming.

The game has its fair share of bugs and glitches, and players have been reporting news every day.

The game was pulled entirely from the PlayStation store back in December, and developers CD Projekt Red are potentially being sued due to the game's poor release.

While a lawsuit of any kind is bad, it appears CD Projekt Red may be in deeper trouble.

As the Polish consumer protection agency is looking into the developer for multiple reasons.

Here's the scoop.

Console Versions

Most of you are aware that the game is a mess on previous-generation consoles.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions are virtually unplayable, and when they are running; they 'perform' at 30 FPS and do not look nearly as good as CD Projekt promised back during trailers.

While CD Projekt has promised to rectify these issues with patches in 2021, the consumer and competition agency within Poland is taking a closer look at CD Projekt Red's comments.

After all, they just want to ensure that the standards are upheld and consumers that are waiting for these patches are not left waiting all year for them.

This was reported by Polish site Benchmark, who have obtained the following quote from the agency, UOKiK:

We ask the entrepreneur to explain the problems with the game and the actions taken by him. We will check how the manufacturer is working on introducing corrections or solving difficulties that prevent the game from playing on different consoles, but also how it intends to act in relation to people who have complained and are dissatisfied with the purchase due to the inability to play the game on their equipment despite the manufacturer's previous assurances

Benchmark has also noted that if UOKiK finds CD Projekt Red guilty then they are able to fine them a total of 10% of their annual revenue!
