Update Size & Download

A new Season usually ranges from 2-20GB depending on the platform.

Each individual update afterwards is usually 3-5GB, with PC usually hitting 10+ and Android being less than 2GB.

Patch Notes

Patch Notes tend to be released on the day of the new update and are distributed to those in the Support-A-Creator programme.

We'll keep you updated right here when those go live.

You can keep up to date with the latest changes and fixes by reading the Fortnite Community Trello Board.

Chapter 2 Season 6 Storyline

We're still waiting to see how the Season 5 storyline pans out, with it currently focusing around Hunters, who have been recruited by Agent Jonesy, and the Zero Point.

"No-one escapes the loop" according to Jonesy - so will players be working together to overthrow him and escape?

Map Changes

A new map isn't likely to be on the cards this season, you'll probably have to wait until Chapter 3 for that.

But a number of changes to POIs will likely arrive.

As these POIs were implemented for the current themed season, we may see them removed at the end of Season 5:

  • Colossal Coliseum
  • Desert Boat
  • Butter Barn
  • Stealthy Strongholds
  • Hunters Haven

Battle Pass

The Battle Pass will once again play an important part in the season and although we're unsure what it will include, we can expect plenty of skins, emotes, pickaxes and gliders.

The new Battle Pass will contain 100 tiers of content for players to complete over the span of the season.

This past season was one that fans were rather disappointed with, however. As a lot of the skins and other cosmetic items were not up to the player's standards as compared to previous seasons.

The premium Battle Pas will cost 950 V-Bucks for the battle pass - this is about £7-8.

You can also obtain the Battle Pass Bundle, which will cost 2800 V-Bucks and rewards you with access to the first 25 tiers of the Battle Pass immediately.

Gifting the Battle Pass will cost $7.59 (without tax).

Alternatively, you can use the V-Bucks you accumulated throughout Season 4 to purchase the new pass for free.

To go from Level 1 to Level 100 without buying ANY tiers you'll need to gain 7,570,000 XP total.

If you're not interested in spending money, you can complete the free battle pass; although it will come with considerably fewer rewards.

Alternatively, you can sign up to Fortnite Crew to get the pass for free.

Every Fortnite season also comes equipped with a brand new theme.

The current season has the theme of 'Hunters', as Agent Jonsey has recruited some of the top hunters from the universe in his aid to save the Nexus Point.

Here's a look at all past themes:

  • CH1S1: No Theme
  • CH1S2: Medieval
  • CH1S3: Space
  • CH1S4: Super Heroes
  • CH1S5: Worlds Collide
  • CH1S6: Halloween
  • CH1S7: Winter
  • CH1S8: Pirates
  • CH1S9: Future
  • CH1SX: Time
  • CH2S1: Doppelgangers
  • CH2S2: The Agency
  • CH2S3: Water/Flood
  • CH2S4: Marvel
  • CH2S5: Hunters

What's in store for us in the future? DC may have been watching the Marvel theme unfold and may want to get involved themselves down the line. However, we already have a number of DC themed skin and items in-game; it would be tough to offer as many unique items.

Although, DC have a number of new films coming out soon including Batman, Flash and Wonder Woman; it would make for a good marketing tool.

Along with the new skins going to be featured in the battle pass, we are sure Epic is going to add some amazing concepts to the daily Fortnite Item Shop!

Expect some changes to fishing, including new Floppers and potentially new mechanics.

Weapons - Mythic Weapons, Exotic Weapons, Vaults, and Unvaults

The release of Chapter 15 saw a lot of classic weapons hit the vault once again. This, unfortunately, included the Pump Shotgun, and Epic even added multiple new weapons this season, but none have lived up to the hype.

We can assume they will rework the loot pool when the new season arrives, but we do not know what type of weapons they are looking to replace/keep within the game.

New this season was interactable NPCs all around the Fortnite island that you could talk to during a match.

These will more than likely remain in the next season.

These were useful for collecting bounties on players or redeeming your Gold Bars for rare Exotic Weapons.
