Microsoft Surveys Customers About PS5 Dualsense Features On Xbox

“I am aware of features on PlayStation controllers that I wish were on the controller that came with this console,” one statement reads.

Microsoft is surveying players to find out whether or not they'd like to see features from Sony's Dualsense controller implemented on the Xbox platform.

The survey, sent to owners of Series X and S consoles, looks to be asking outright if players would be keen on features from the PS5 pad making the jump.

“I am aware of features on PlayStation controllers that I wish were on the controller that came with this console,” one statement reads, with options to agree or disagree.

As noted by TechRadar, other statements, such as "This console feels faster than any other console I've used" or "this console feels "next gen"" are also included, with options to agree or disagree strongly, as well as opt to do neither.

As for what those PS5 Dualsense features are, it seems obvious.

While the Dualshock 4 that it replaces also has a speaker (something the Xbox controller doesn't have), it seems clear that Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers are the real crux of the discussion.

The former is essentially an advanced version of rumble, allowing for subtle changes in the way terrain feels under a character's feet.

Adaptive Triggers offer customisable tension, allowing players to feel when a player can no longer sprint in FIFA, or when a gun jams in a shooter.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has previously discussed the innovations of the Dualsense when speaking to The Verge in November.

“I think for all of us in the industry, we should learn from each other and the innovation that we all push on, whether it’s distribution of business model like Game Pass, or controller tech, or the Wii back in the day, which clearly had an impact on us when we went off and did Kinect and Sony did the Move,” the head of Xbox said.

“I think all of that innovation is something that we should all be looking at and learning and growing and saying, ‘Okay, what’s really going to break out and become a common part of a platform that developers and players are going to look for?’
