Cyberpunk 2077 Warning Message Suggests Developers "Sought to Hide" Xbox and PS4 versions

An unprecedented statement.

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally here, but the game's performance on Xbox One and PS4 has been the subject of mass criticism – even prompting developer CD Projekt Red to offer refunds.

That's not all though, as review aggregator OpenCritic has taken steps to denote the issues plaguing the console versions.

When users head to the Cyberpunk 2077 page on the site, below the "Mighty" badge and high critic scores, the following disclaimer can be found:

"This game has significant disparities in performance, player experience, and review scores between the PC, next-gen consoles, Xbox One, and PS4 versions."

Cyberpunk 2077 Warning Message Suggests Developers "Sought to Hide" Xbox and PS4 versions

“The OpenCritic team and several critics suspect that the developer, CD Projekt Red, intentionally sought to hide the true state of the game on Xbox One and PS4, with requirements such as only allowing pre-rendered game footage in reviews and not issuing review copies for PS4 and Xbox One versions,” the statement continues.

Clicking the statement leads users to a lengthy post about the way that the console versions were hidden from the press.

It's an unprecedented move for OpenCritic, but it feels like a monumental moment in gaming when a developer decides to offer refunds for a game that's been in development for the best part of a decade.
