The Cayo Perico heist is about to add a huge new area, with a private island ripe for the heist to end all heists.
It could also see the return of Martin Madrazo, a key character in the main campaign of GTA 5, and someone that has appeared in GTA Online before.
GTA Online Trailer Hints At Martin Madrazo Return
Check out the trailer below:
At around the 0:38 second mark, we get a look at what looks to be a map of the island.
Check it out below:
Which side of Madrazo will we be on this time?
In the top right-hand corner, we see a dollar amount for both "Madrazo Files" and "Secondary Targets".
If Madrazo is back, that's bad news for everyone. The ruthless crime lord is a pretty big deal in GTA 5's single-player story content, forcing Michael into a series of heists to ensure his debt is repaid.
In GTA Online, he's a contact that hands out missions – could we be retrieving sensitive files for him? Or are we finding files of information about him for nefarious purposes?
Either way, we'll find out on December 15 once the update goes live.
The Cayo Perico heist is intended as Rockstar's most ambitious yet. Find out all we know here.
The Cayo Perico Heist Explained
“On Tuesday, December 15, GTA Online raises the stakes once again with its biggest update yet: the Cayo Perico Heist, featuring an all-new exotic location and a brand-new approach to heist design that for the first time will let players tackle the entire heist solo or with a crew of up to three other players,” Rockstar said in an email.
“Along with the challenge of finding a way to infiltrate and rob one of the most secure private islands in the world, players can also expect new social spaces to party with friends, new world-class DJs, and radio stations with over 100 new songs, plus a host of vehicles and weapons, a heavily armed submarine HQ, and much more.”
A standalone release of GTA Online is expected to launch in 2021, along with new versions of GTA 5 optimized for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
