Take on the Lake Legend Azelf

The Lake Legends are returning to Raids in Pokemon Go!

This time they’ll be appearing in the following regions Uxie in Asia and Australia, Mespirit in Europe and Africa, and Azelf in the Americas.

If you are hoping to snag any of them for your collections you’ll need to know the best counters to use, so here is our guide on how to take on Azelf in new 5 Star Raids in Pokemon Go!

How to Counter Azelf in Pokemon Go

The three Lake Legends are very similar. All of them have a single Psychic typing and will use nearly identical moves:

Fast Moves

  • Extrasensory
  • Confusion

Charged Moves

  • FutureSIght
  • Swift
  • Thunder - Uxie
  • Blizzard - Mespirit
  • Fire Blast - Azelf

Because they are so similar, we’ll be recommending similar teams for each Legend.

Types to Use on Your Team Against Azelf

Bug, Dark and Ghost will be fantastic choices against Azelf because of its moves and typing.

These types of Pokemon will serve you well, as they’ll not only deal more damage themselves but will also take less from Azelf's Psychic attacks!

Though watch out using Bugs against Azelf, Fire Blast will be super effective, so try focussing on Ghost and Dark types.

Pokemon to Use on Your Team Against Azelf

Our Top Picks would include Gengar and Houndoom, specifically their mega evolved versions!

A Mega Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball, or a Mega Houndoom with Snarl and Foul Play will rinse through Uxie, Azelf and Mespirit!

If you like fighting fire with fire, use the Legendary Pokemon Darkrai, Giratina or Mewtwo.

A Darkrai with Snarl and Shadow Ball, a Giratina with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball and a Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball will each pack a punch.

Some honourable Mentions we would also include are Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Weavile and Chandelure, each hooked up with powerful Dark and Ghost moves will see you do very well indeed!

Good luck out there trainers!
