Keep your account secure.

After months of teasers, Easter Eggs, and reveals, the worldwide release for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is finally here!

The latest instalment in the popular first-person shooter franchise introduces players to brand-new Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies experiences.

Black Ops Cold War is a direct sequel to the very first Black Ops title which released a decade ago.

Since the release of Call of Duty: Warzone back in March, there have been several instances of Call of Duty accounts being compromised due to hacks and data breaches.

Ahead of the release of Black Ops Cold War, Activision has stepped in and introduced a new two-factor authentication (2FA) system in a bid to add an additional layer of protection to the accounts of players.

With Activision preparing to integrate Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare, the move to implement 2FA makes a lot of sense.

With hundreds of millions of players’ accounts all linked across three titles, it will be much harder for any intruders to get hold of your account.

Call of Duty isn’t the first franchise to implement 2FA.

Publisher Epic Games introduced the added layer of security back in May to secure the accounts of Fortnite players.

Want to activate 2FA for your Call of Duty account? Here’s how.

How To Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  • Head to the Account Management page on the Call of Duty website.
  • Select the Privacy & Security tab on the Account Management page.
  • Select ‘Enable Two-Factor Authentication’.
  • Follow the instructions provided to enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  • All done!

Don’t forget to store the backup codes somewhere safe. If you lose access to the device with the authenticator app, these codes will be the only way to grant access to your Call of Duty account.

By enabling 2FA on your account, the likelihood of it falling victim to a hack or a data breach is significantly reduced, meaning that you will be able to play knowing that your account is safe and secure.
