Fallen Order Series X gameplay: Last year’s blockbuster Star Wars game looks a whole lot better on next-gen consoles

Looks like the Force is strong with Series X.

Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best Star Wars games there is, but let’s be honest: it was pretty rough on baseline consoles. It dropped frames left and right on the 2013 Xbox One, and relied heavily on motion blur. Friends playing on One X said their experience wasn’t much better.

It’s an ambitious game with massive environments, fast combat, weather effects, and lots of enemies and movement on the screen. There was hardly doubt that it would be more at home on next-gen hardware and PC.

Jedi: Fallen Order on Xbox Series X

In a new 13-minute YouTube upload from GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, we get a good look at just what Fallen Order looks like running on an Xbox Series X. The video is rendered in 1080p at 60 frames per second.

Grubb has motion blur turned off and performance mode on, and the game appears to be running at a super smooth 60 fps the whole way through. Film grain, chromatic aberration, and camera shake are also enabled.

With all the lifelike textures and cinematic lighting, this is essentially as good as any Star Wars video game has ever looked. I’ve been intentionally holding off on a second playthrough because of next gen, and Grubb’s video has me feeling pretty good about that decision.
