Trouble For Sony?

Last month the gaming world experienced massive news with the announcement that Microsoft has purchased Bethesda, in a record-breaking deal.

Since the deal was announced, there has been an ample amount of speculation whether all Bethesda games going forward will be Xbox exclusives.

This was an awkward time to announce the deal as two of Bethesda's current projects are actually PS5 exclusives. These of course being Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop; both of which are set to be hits among the community.

Now, top Microsoft executive Phill Spencer has commented on the possibility of these games releasing solely on Xbox consoles down the line.

No More PS5?

In an interview with Kotaku, where Phill talked about a wide array of topics regarding the present and future of Xbox; there were some subtle hints towards the future of Bethesda games.

Stephen Totillo from Kotaku initially asked Phill Spencer “Is it possible to recoup a $7.5 billion investment if you don’t sell Elder Scrolls VI on the PlayStation?”

Spencer promptly said yes to this question then following up with a very insightful message:

“This deal was not done to take games away from another player base like that. Nowhere in the documentation that we put together was: ‘How do we keep other players from playing these games?’ We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to go play games."

"When I think about where people are going to be playing and the number of devices that we had, and we have xCloud and PC and Game Pass and our console base, I don’t have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to kind of make the deal work for us,"

So, although it is unlikely that Microsoft and Bethesda make massive titles such as The Elder Scrolls Xbox exclusive, there is certainly a possibility that other titles will be.

Since the deal was announced last month, there has been an ample amount of talk about how Sony will answer back.

Many fans have noted they should outright purchase Take-Two Interactive; who control RockStar Games and the 2K franchise among other titles

This seems unlikely at the moment, but this Bethesda purchase from Microsoft came out of nowhere it seems.

So, you truleyu never know what is going on behind the scenes.
