A blocky new challenger approaches.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate fans have already been promised more fighters after Min Min arrived earlier this year to kick off the second Fighters Pass, and we now know that Minecraft's Steve and Alex will be joining the game!

Nintendo is planning to reveal more about the character tomorrow, October 3!

Check out the announcement video below:

According to the trailer, "Sakurai will be back with a deep dive video that will reveal more details about Steve and Alex, including their release date" on October 3 at 7:30 AM PT.

Alongside Steve comes Alex, and the Minecraft characters represent the second dose of Microsoft-owned IP to arrive in Smash Bros following Banjo and Kazooie,

With Min Min from Arms announced and launched in June, we'll have gone four months without a fighter being added - understandable, due to the current global pandemic.

As a reminder, the current DLC fighters come from all over the place.

There's Joker from Persona 5, Banjo and Kazooie from the Microsoft-owned Rare studio, Terry Bogard from SNK, Byleth from Fire Emblem, Hero from Dragon Quest and, of course, the Piranha Plant from the Mario franchise.

The second Fighters Pass kicked off with Min Min, but is expected to add a further five characters.

It really is anyone's guess as to who will be added next!

Here's hoping that one day we'll see Kratos and Master Chief enter the arena...

In other Super Smash Bros Ultimate news, the game could be getting some netcode improvements in the coming months.

That's according to the director of Tekken 7, who revealed on a recent live stream that Masahiro Sakurai was very interested in the game's promised online upgrades.
