You can now get the controllers too! Check out the links below!

Original Stories - You might not have noticed, but Sony PlayStation has got more PS5 accessories than a Mad Catz warehouse.

Between new controllers (understandable), stands, headphones and remotes, there's a lot to wrap your head around.

By comparison, team Xbox is playing things very differently with their new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles. There's a commitment to ensuring the vast majority of your existing Xbox One accessories continue to work on their shiny new systems.

It's a startlingly refreshing approach from Microsoft and one most gaming fans can get behind. Not least because it means you don't have to instantly bin all that plastic you've forked out for previously.

There is, however, one new accessory which Microsoft is keen to push this year, in the shape of a new and improved Xbox Controller.

This new pad isn't a massive departure from the standard Xbox One controller, but it has been refined.

For starters, the d-pad has had a tweak bringing it more in line with Microsoft's Xbox Elite Controller, whilst button triggers also have grips now.

In a bid to be more social, Xbox are also adding a share button. Nothing new in that regard since Sony and Nintendo have been doing it for some time, but a welcome addition all the same.

Internally is where the controller has had the most important tweak though, with Xbox improving on input latency making for quicker and more responsive. So there are no excuses for not being quick on the trigger in Call of Duty anymore.

Xbox Series X controller price

Microsoft has yet to confirm a price for its new Xbox Series X controller. We imagine we might not learn the official pricing until the day Xbox Series X pre-orders and Xbox Series S pre-orders go live.

But, it's widely believed it will retail for close to £60. As with all new tech, expect it to cost a good sight more than the existing hardware available.

And given a standard Xbox, One controller retails for £40, at least you know it won't be any cheaper.

Xbox Series X controller release date

Microsoft hasn't gone out of their way to give too much info about the new Xbox Series X or Series S controller, but they will release alongside the new consols at launch on November 10, 2020.

Xbox Series X controller pre-orders

At the time of writing Xbox have kept quiet about pre-orders for the new controllers, but we're thinking they'll go live alongside pre-orders of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

We'll be sure to update this page with links once they're live, but we suspect the following retailers (previously listed as UK stockists of the new console) will be some of the first to sell the new controller on its own.

Xbox Series S Controller

Wait, what? Yes, there are actually two new controllers, but the only differences between the Series X controller and the Series S controller are the colours.

Xbox Series X ships with a matching black controller, whilst Series S will ship with a white controller.

If you're thinking of picking up a second controller for your next-gen setup, it might be wise to opt for the alternative colour. We'd imagine pricing will be identical when purchased individually.

Or alternatively... Get the Elite!

As we mentioned at the start, the Xbox Series X and Series S are backwards compatible with a lot of previously released accessories and hardware.

So now might be a good time to look at buying the Xbox Elite Controller if you really want a Pro set up.

You can pick up the Xbox Elite Controller for around £150 if you really fancy splashing the cash. We can't promise it'll make you a better gamer, but it at least has a nice hard case to keep it from getting smashed if you plan to start carrying around your Xbox Series S to your mates.

Stay tuned for more updates on September 22!
