Where can you buy a PS5? (Without resorting to eBay)

[UPDATED - Friday 25 September - Argos, GAME and Smyths are confirmed to have more stock coming today. Follow the link for more details. Those reading in the states, there is also more stock coming for GameSpot]

Original Story - Much to everyone's annoyance Sony PlayStation surprised the world by dropping PS5 pre-orders straight after the PS5 showcase earlier this week.

So much for giving fans plenty of time as they promised some months back.

Regardless, you'll no doubt be joining millions of other Sony PlayStation fans in the UK who are now desperately clawing for somewhere to be selling stock of the next-gen machine.

Or maybe you've got your PS5 and have now started hunting down those official PS5 accessories after feeling flush with some extra cash.

The problem is, there are just so many sites who are either selling the console, stocking the console, or still registering people's interest.

It's all a bit of a minefield of confusion. Not least when you chuck in the fact some sites take no deposit, some take a small deposit and others are taking the full payment upfront.

So to try and help you out, we've put together a quick list of sites so you know where to look. We'll do our best to keep it updated regularly, but it won't be easy given how quick stock appears to be flying off the shelves. Good luck!

PS5 Pre-Order UK Stock Checker

Amazon UK – PS5 pre-orders are “currently unavailable”. We imagine Amazon will be big enough to get more stock in the future, so keep an eye on the web pages. But maybe do so on desktop as some mobile users were encountering issues initially when pre-orders went live.

AO.com – The Standard PS5 and Digital Edition are both sold out. Move along. Don’t bookmark.

Argos [More stock coming Friday 25 September] - It’s also worth noting that full payment will be taken when you place your order. Pricey.

Box.co.uk – Went live Friday 18. Sold out, but you can “request a stock alert”. Will require a £1.00 deposit.

Carphone Warehouse Not available yet, but you can register your interest. For what that’s worth.

Currys PC World – [Currys have more PS5 stock available from 12:00PM TODAY - Click this link to Currys PS5 Pre-Order page to get in the queue] - As per the Currys website: “The new PS5 has now sold out! We are working tirelessly to secure more stock. Please continue to check this page for more updates.” Supposedly more stock coming today (Friday 18) but we can’t see any just yet. You’ll need to make a non-refundable £5 deposit to secure your PS5.

GAME – [More stock coming Friday 25 September] - Sold out fast after going live straight after the PS5 showcase. Bound to have more stock in future and won’t charge until it’s dispatched. You could check local stores, but they’re probably sold out. If you do find one, pat yourself on the back and hand over a £10 deposit.

John Lewis – Was sold out, then came back (we just had a stock alert push notification). Only selling the Standard edition, no digital editions.

SimplyGames – Pre-orders are not yet live, but should be going live soon. At the moment you can only ‘register interest’.

ShopTo – Both the PS5 and digital edition are out of stock. Worth bookmarking and checking back on when you can.

Smyths Toys – [More stock coming Friday 25 September] - Out of stock pretty much everywhere, but you can get some accessories if you’re jonzing for a PS5 remote.

Tesco - [As one of the first retailers to have stock, its possible more could be available on Friday 25 September for new stock] - “We are temporarily out of stock, please check back soon” - That settles that one then. You can bookmark the Tesco PS5 Pre-Order page if you fancy.

Very – PS5 pre-orders are currently in stock. Go go go. Like Argos, Very will take full payment when you order.

Stay tuned for more updates as we get them!
