Thanks, Nintendo!

UPDATE: Rocket League is indeed going free-to-play from September 23, but players can begin linking their accounts tomorrow to prepare their accounts for cross-platform progression!

Rocket League is going free-to-play later this summer, and Nintendo might have revealed exactly when.

According to a Nintendo store listing that has since been deleted (but not before being spotted), the game will be going free-to-play on September 23 - so we don't have long to wait.

In fact, there's no way to find Rocket League on Nintendo's platform at all, at least via the web.

Is that when Season 15 kicks off, too?

Rocket League Nintendo Listing Reveals Free-To-Play Date

Psyonix undoubtedly surprised many earlier this year when it announced that its hit car/football hybrid would be going free-to-play.

The developer was aiming for a summer release for this version of the game, but it seems as though they'll miss that window by a few weeks - understandable given the way the world is currently dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The game is also ditching Steam for the Epic Games Store, with cosmetic bundles leaking via its new home in recent weeks.

Don't worry though, if you bought the game on steam, you'll still be able to play the game there for the foreseeable future.

The game is sure to bring in plenty of new players with this new model, but existing players will be pleased to know that they'll be able to take their progress with them anywhere.

We'll be sure to update this article once we receive any clarification from Psyonix or Nintendo.
