Small, but mighty.

If you've looked at the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or even the Nintendo Switch and thought to yourself "those are a bit too technical for me" and fancy something a little more portable, the Analogue Pocket might be just what you're looking for.

This nifty little handheld is essentially a device that can run Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games, even using "Original Display Mode" to show your classic titles, warts and all, just how you remember them. Simply pop your old cartridges in, and away you go.

It supports GB Studio for drag-and-drop game editing, too, creators can even run their own games on the device. You can even buy an adapter so it'll play Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Atari Lynx cartridges, too.

Charged via USB-C, the console looks stunningly sleek. Check it out below.

Despite the 3.5-inch screen, the Analogue Pocket packs a 1600x1400 resolution and is made from Gorilla Glass, too, so it's extra tough. You can also pick up a link cable, screen protector and hardshell case, so you'll feel like you're back in the late nineties again. Bizarrely, you can even use it as a synthesizer and sequencer for music creation.

Pre-orders go live at 8 AM PDT on Monday, August 3, with the console coming in at a pricey $199 (no UK pricing, yet). You can check out the store here.

Honestly, I thought it was going to be a little too niche for my tastes, but I'm strangely entranced by the console's design and the possibility of replaying some games of my childhood again. If this thing runs my dusty old Fire Pro Wrestling for GBA cartridge, I might have to look into it!
