Positive news for CoD esports fans.

Development for Call of Duty 2020 is in full swing and while several leaks surrounding maps, weapons, perks and killstreaks begin to emerge, lead developer, Treyarch is calling on professional players to offer feedback on the new game.

Rumoured to be Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch took over as lead developer from Sledgehammer Games after Activision allegedly intervened before taking over development of the game.

On June 5th, recently benched Florida Mutinners player Chance “Maux” Moncivaez revealed that Treyarch had already begun to contact CDL players to begin discussing features for the competitive side of the game.

His Reddit posts explains that fans of CoD esports should be “hopeful” when the new title releases after Infinity Ward has provided minimal support for competitive Modern Warfare.

The Modern Warfare developer did add Gamebattles integration into the game earlier in the year alongside a CDL Playlists for a more competitive experience, but the lack of a fully-fledged ranked playlist has angered many fans of competitive Call of Duty.

Despite the sub-par efforts from Infinity Ward, the early signs for the next instalment of the franchise sound positive.

Treyarch has a history of providing the most support for the competitive scene and judging by Maux’s comments, we should be in safe hands once the game releases later in the year.
