Friends that slay together, stay together.

Dying Light 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but we do have some information on how its multiplayer will work.

While the first game offered basic co-op multiplayer, its expansion "The Following" added new modes, and the "Bad Blood" spin-off saw the franchise enter the Battle Royale space.

Here's all we know about the sequel's multiplayer.

Dying Light 2 Co-Op & Multiplayer Details

Dying Light 2 will feature a 4 player co-op experience. As the new game is radically different, the multiplayer experience had to be changed. One player now hosts up to three others in their world. Every action you choose can impact the story, leading to radically different outcomes across four playthroughs.

In an interview with PCGamesN, the game's producer Malgorzata Mitrega explains why you'll need a host.

“The choices and the narrative and the consequences you have in your own game are really huge and your friends could have chosen differently, so in Dying Light 2 co-operation mode will have a host.”

That interview is, admittedly, from 2019 - so things may have changed since then.

While that sounds fun, keep in mind that you'll want to trust your friends - in case they kill an NPC that's important for progression!

With the first game offering an "Invasion" mechanic that lets a player join your world as a zombie, we'd love to see that make a return.
