Who will you choose to accompany you to enter battle? Check out the newest tournament for Sword and Shield!

The next DLC expansion in Pokemon Sword and Shield is The Crown Tundra, but it won't release until November 2020.

One of the features showcased in the recent trailer was a brand new mini-tournament called the Galar Star Tournament.

Let's go over everything we know regarding this event.

What Is It

Towards the back half of the latest Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC trailer, we got a sneak peek at what appeared to be a double battle rematched with Leon.

But, sources have confirmed to SerebiiNet that this is, in fact, a tournament game mode going to be playable with Wyndon City.

This is why SerebiiNet had to say regarding the Galar Star Tournament:

"Serebii Update: In The Crown Tundra, there's a new feature called the Galar Star Tournament in Wyndon. In this, you play Multi Battles against various characters from the story"

Who Can I Partner With?

As of now, we do not know who you will be able to partner with during the matches.

We can speculate that Hop is going to be one of the options or even one of your friends with the help of the Switch's Online tools.

Best Pokemon

Although the Galar Star Tournament is quite some time away still, we highly doubt the meta of Sword and Shield is going to change heavily between now and November.

Some Pokemon thrive in double battle scenarios, their move-sets are deadly when mixed with the right Pokemon, and can wipe whole teams out on their own.

Here are some of the best Pokemon we think are going to be vital for any one team in the Galar Star Tournament:

  • Tyranitar
  • Grimmsnarl
  • Hatterene
  • Duraludon
  • Garchomp
  • Lapras
  • Charizard
  • Corviknight
  • Duraludon
  • Any of the Galar Starter Pokemon
