There can be only one (but not really).

Animal Crossing New Horizons has taken the world by storm, spurred on by events both in-game and in the real world that are keeping people crafting their island paradise.

Perhaps because of this success, the franchise's mobile title, Pocket Camp, has also started to gain traction. Here's a comparison of the two, just for fun.

Platforms

While New Horizons is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, you can get Pocket Camp on your iOS or Android device.

Price

New Horizons will set you back upwards of £40 for the chance to jump into your island paradise, but Pocket Camp is a free download.

There are, however, microtransactions and even an optional monthly subscription for Pocket Camp to help you make the most of your campsite experience.

Activities and Content

The real meat of the comparison, Pocket Camp is undoubtedly a microcosm of what you'll experience in New Horizons.

While the mobile game offers aspects like befriending NPCs, hoovering up materials and building out a campsite, New Horizons offers a much deeper experience, with the kinds of secrets players are still uncovering months on from launch.

New Horizons offers players an entire island to bend to their will, even offering the likes of terraforming and evicting residents you're not keen on. There's simply more to do, too, while Pocket Camp limits your options each day. That makes it ideal for short bursts, but if you're really looking to become one with your animal neighbours, New Horizons is the way to go.

One knock against New Horizons is its lack of cloud saves, though - something Pocket Camp does offer.
