Want to unlock all the shops for New Horizons? Check out our guide here!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be released worldwide and the long-awaited game is the first one on the Nintendo Switch and fans could not be more excited!

Of course, one of the core components of any Animal Crossing game is building your village; and to do this you are going to need shops!

With different ways to get all the shops, let's go over our guide about how to get each shop!

Keep up to date with everything Animal Crossing by watching below!

Item Shop - How To Upgrade

One of the first shops you will build is the Item Shop, and it perhaps one of the most vital for your village as well.

You are going to want to upgrade your item shop as the game progresses as then it will sell more items to you!

In order to upgrade your shop we'll go through how you were able to accomplish this in New Leaf as we suspect it will be the same!:

Convenience Store (T&T Mart) - You have to actually live in a house rather than a tent and spent over 12,000 bells at the current item shop.

Supermarket (Super T&T) - All you have to do is spend over 25,000 bells at the current item shop!

Home Center (T.I.Y) - Spend over 50,000 bells at the current store and wait at least 21 days after the latest one opened.

Department Store (T&T Emporium) - Spend over 100,000 bells and wait 30 days since the last store opened!

Garden Center

Similar to the Item Shops, the Garden Center is the home of all your gardening needs. From seeds, flowers, and tools this is another one of the most important buildings within your village.

To even unlock the Garden Center the player is going to have to accomplish at least 30 gardening activities; tasks such as planting flowers, or watering flowers.

Once you achieve this number the Garden Center will automatically begin construction!

Once you upgrade your Item Shop to the Home Center (T.I.Y); the Garden Center will automatically merge with the Item Shop! This allows for more seeds and other gardening essentials to be sold as well.

Nook's Homes

It is unknown if this will be a building in New Horizons yet, but we can assume Tom Nook is going to have some sort of real estate building on your island! Nook's Homes acts as the focal point of upgrading your house and expanding it, so it is always good to upgrade this property as it unlocks more upgrades!

In New Leaf, the building was unlocked right away and after your paid off your loan and upgrade from a tent to a house; this is when you had a lot more options for customization.

Happy Home Academy

This is a vendor ran within Nook's Home and is helpful when designing your future home. In order to unlock this all you have to do is upgrade your place from a tent to an actual house!

Museum Shop

The Museum itself has to be built as a Public Works Project at some point within the game; then in order to unlock the shop, you have to donate at least 20 items and one form each major category.

Club LOL

This is a stand-up comedy club run by Dr. Shrunk; to unlock it you will need to upgrade your item shop to at least the T&T Mart level and have a 100% approval rating.

Kicks

As the name suggests, this is a shoe store for your village that will automatically build when you spend 8000 Bells at Able Sisters.

Shampoodle

The local barbershop run by Harriet, this is where you can get your hair cut or any other service. In order to unlock Shampoodle, you will need to unlock Kicks and then spend 10,000 Bells at either Kicks or Able Sisters.

Fortune Teller Shop

At the fortune teller, the player can get their fortune read and get monthly charms! To get the Fortune Teller Shop inside your village, you or 20 other villagers are going to have to get your fortune read by Katrina; which can be done by visiting other villages!

Dream Suite

Perhaps one of the coolest Public Works Projects that you can build, the Dream Suite lets you access an alternate version of your town.

You can do whatever you want in this version of your town with no consequences.

To unlock it, all you have to do is talk to Isabelle when she is sleeping in the town hall, then you can commish it in the Public Works Page!

The Roost Cafe

Once you have the misuse open, which we mention above; donate at least 50 items. Shortly after, talk to Blathers and then you can build the Roost Cafe as a project!
