If this starter Johto Pokemon is your choice in the new Mystery Dungeon game, here's our guide!

The Generation 2 fire-type is available as the player or partner through the main game.
Usually, Cyndaquil is chosen if the personality results are Timid (for males) in nature.
Its mobility is characterised by fire, meaning that it can travel through lava tiles but not water/cloud tiles and walls.
As Cyndaquil is a fire type, he will be weak to water, ground and rock type Pokemon, meaning you should pair it with an electric or water type such as Pikachu, Squirtle, Totodile or Mudkip.
How To Get Cyndaquil
Cyndaquil can be chosen at the start of the game as either the player or partner.
Cyndaquil can be recruited exclusively at Joyous Tower with a recruit rate of 11.2%.
You will come across a Lv14 Cyndaquil with a rarity of:
- 13th floor (23.53%)
- 14th floor (21.62%)
- 15th floor (24.25%)
- 16th floor (32.0%)
- 17th floor (23.53%
Evolution does not play a massive part in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, so it is perfectly ok to keep Cyndaquil as he is.
Although stats do not increase from evolution, moves can vary once it evolves into Quilava or Typhlosion.
If you do wish to evolve Cyndaquil, you will need to finish the main story and enter the Luminous Cave - be sure to check our evolution guide for more details.
